Fall 2015 Updates

The team at CAST TC has been very busy over the past month and we have a lot of exciting updates to share!

On October 22nd we hosted our second screening of Nefarious: Merchant of Souls, an award-winning documentary produced by one of our friends in abolition, Benjamin Nolot, of Exodus Cry. We were honored to have Benjamin attend the event and provide our audience with a Q&A session after! The screening had an audience of over 130 people from Northern Michigan.

We had an overwhelmingly positive response to this event and believe that it was an important educational opportunity for our community. An attendee emailed us the next day to tell us,

“I thought the night was incredibly successful, informative and deeply moving. Just the right thing to open people’s eyes and get them involved on their home turf!”

UpNorth Live also provided coverage of the event!

On October 23rd and 24th our team attended the Northern Michigan Michigan Human Trafficking Awareness Summit in Cadillac. It was hosted by The Northern Michigan Coalition to End Human Trafficking. It was a well-executed event with speakers including Senator Judy Emmons, survivor Theresa Flores, Laila Mickelwait and Benjamin Nolot from Exodus Cry, Clinician & Advocate Amber Herlein, Michigan State Police D/Sgt. Edward Price, and Colin Parks, Manager of Children’s Protective Services and Family Preservation Program. All speakers are authorities in their field of study/work and were an incredible resource for our CAST TC team!

Since October, the CAST Team has been working diligently on plans for our upcoming gala fundraiser, January 23rd! It is sure to be a spectacular evening and proceeds from the event will go towards the CAST safe house opening in April of 2016!
